Ceramic Coating vs Wax in New Jersey: What Actually Survives Demarest?

Wax and ceramic coating do the same job — sacrificial protection over your clear coat — on wildly different timescales. In a climate like Demarest's, the difference isn't subtle.

Demarest vehicles live a hard life: dense traffic throwing debris at close range, aggressive winter brining that coats everything below the beltline, and muggy summers that keep bird droppings and sap etching into clear coat. New Jersey's four real seasons each bring their own attack — and unprotected paint shows it within a few years.

Head to head

Between road brine, acid rain, and summer contamination, paint here needs a chemical barrier year-round. Coated cars wash clean in half the time — which matters when washing season is short.

Who should still wax

Enthusiasts who genuinely enjoy the ritual, show cars that get pampered anyway, and anyone not ready for the coating's upfront cost. Wax isn't wrong — it's just a subscription, and New Jersey weather cancels it every couple of months.
