New Car Protection in Edmond: What to Do in the First 30 Days

The best time to protect a car is before Edmond gets its first shot at it. New paint is as good as it will ever be — every week of brutal sun plus humidity, bugs, and salt air works against the finish film and coatings would have preserved.

The first-30-days sequence

• Week 1 — PPF on the impact zones (front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors). New paint needs no correction, which also makes this the cheapest install the car will ever get.
• Week 1–2 — Ceramic coating over paint and film. One prep, one cure, full-body defense.
• Week 2 — Window tint to your legal limit (25% fronts in Oklahoma), ceramic film for real heat rejection.
• Ongoing — pH-neutral hand washes only; skip tunnel washes entirely.

Dealer add-ons vs professional installs

Dealer "paint protection packages" are usually a $200 sealant sold for $1,200 on the finance sheet. The professional equivalent — real film, real coating, installed by a certified shop with a registered warranty — often costs the same or less and is verifiable: ULTRASHIELD installs are registered with CARFAX, so your protection is on the vehicle's permanent record, not just the sales contract.

Oklahoma paint fights a two-front war: sun strong enough to fade an unprotected hood in a few summers, and humidity that keeps every contaminant — bug guts, bird droppings, tree sap — chemically active and etching longer. Add coastal salt air around Edmond and afternoon downpours that dry into water spots, and unprotected clear coat simply ages fast here.
